Revolutionary movements and ideologies, some violent and some non-violent, spread across much of the world in the twentieth century. This course examines the ideas that inspired revolutionaries and the conditions that led to calls for change then and now. We may consider topics such as socialist and communist ideologies, racial tensions, nationalism, feminism, the “green” revolution, and cultural revolution. No prior knowledge of the history of revolutions is expected.
